Measurement Ended as the Specimen Moved
The position of the markings changed relative to Vector without a corresponding change in strain.
Considerations
If Measurement ended unexpectedly and this indicator is active, consider the following causes:
- A slack load-train caused the specimen to move, rotate, or twist.
- Apply more preload to the load train to prevent movement, then reset Vector with a “handstop”.See Specimen Moved for more information.
- The specimen slipped in the grips as load was applied.
Check that grips are tightened sufficiently before Measurement is started.
- The Vector moved on the test frame.
- Check that all Vector mounting locking levers are secure and locked off.See Positioning Vector for more information.
- The testframe crosshead moved.
Check that the test frame is not moving, and there is sufficient rigidity in the load train to hold the specimen stationary.
Information
Motion that is not extension or straining of the specimen can introduce errors. The effect can be caused from the motion of both the Vector and the specimen load-train.
